What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It's administered by laying on hands and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and
healthy.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady.
It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. It treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn or receive Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.
How Long is a Session?
A session generally lasts between 45-60 min. After your session, I recommend that you remain laying down and relax for a few minutes, allowing your body to adjust slowly.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet and hands using specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil, cream or lotion. It's based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change in the body.
There are over 7,000 nerve endings on the bottom of each foot. When they are stimulated, signals are sent along the spinal cord, and up to the thalamus gland in the brain, which produces its own opiate-like painkillers called "endorphins." Reflexology stimulates the body's own pain killing system.
Research has show reflexology to be effective and beneficial in many ways. It can:reduce pain, create relaxation, improves blood flow, aids post-operative recovery, benefits mental health, enhances medical care and can ease pregnancy, delivery and postpartum effects.
In general, the benefits of reflexology have to do with the reduction of stress.
**Reflexology is a complement to standard medical care and should not be construed as medical advice. It should not replace medical care.
